Branding for Professional services
A clear position and identity for firms that have grown past the name and logo they started with.
The outcome people actually want: a business that looks as established as it is, and is recognisable everywhere it shows up.
Referrals bring clients in. The website decides whether they stay interested.
Most professional firms grow on referrals, and almost every referral checks the website first. If the site describes the firm in the same words as every other firm in the field, it doesn't close the gap. Then intake — engagement letters, document collection, scheduling — happens over email and eats time nobody can bill.
- Your website could describe any firm in your field.
- Prospective clients ask whether you handle things your site doesn't mention.
- Collecting documents from new clients takes weeks of chasing.
- Intake details get copied from emails into your practice management system.
What you get, in order.
Positioning
A short written answer to who you're for, what you do and why you instead of the alternative — the brief every design decision is checked against.
Identity design
Logo, colour, type and supporting graphic elements, shown in use on real touchpoints rather than floating on a white page.
Guidelines
A practical guide to using the brand, including a voice section so the words match the look.
Rollout
Files for every format you need, and a plan for updating the website, signage and templates in a sensible order.
Who this is for.
Small and mid-size firms — legal, accounting, financial, consulting and advisory — with a clear specialism and more admin between enquiry and engagement than they'd like.
It's a poor fit where regulations limit what the firm can publish or automate and nobody internally can sign off changes. We check that first.
What makes it bigger or smaller.
Smaller
- A refresh rather than a rebrand
- A clear position already
- One business line
- Few touchpoints to update
Bigger
- A new name
- Several business lines or sub-brands
- Many physical touchpoints
- A full voice and messaging system
No numbers here — we'll put one in writing after we've seen it.
Before, during, and after.
Positioning, one to two weeks
Conversations with you, your team and ideally a few customers, plus a look at the competition. You sign off a written positioning brief before any design starts.
Identity in rounds
A few directions first, then one refined direction, shown on your real website, signage and documents.
Rollout
Guidelines and files, then help rolling the brand onto the website and everything else — which is where most rebrands stall.
What professional services firms ask about branding.
What's the difference between a logo and a brand?
A logo is one mark. A brand is everything someone recognises and remembers about your business — the look, the voice, the reputation. We design the visible identity and the thinking that holds it together.
Do we need a rebrand or a refresh?
Usually a refresh. If people already recognise you and the name still fits, we modernise what is there rather than starting over. A full rebrand makes sense when the name or the business itself has changed.
How long does branding take?
Most identity projects take somewhere between four and eight weeks, depending on how much positioning work is needed and how many review rounds there are.
Will you roll the new brand onto our website?
Yes — that's usually where we're most useful. A new identity lands better when the website and marketing change with it.
How much does branding cost?
There's no price on this page. It depends on whether it's a refresh or a rebrand, and how many touchpoints need updating. We put a number in writing after the first conversation.
Can you work within our profession's rules on advertising and confidentiality?
Yes, with your sign-off on anything regulated. We flag claims and data flows that need review, and keep client information inside the systems approved for it.
Can you connect intake to our practice management software?
Usually. Many practice management tools accept intake through forms or integrations. We confirm what yours supports before recommending a build.
Why does AI search matter for a professional firm?
Because clients increasingly ask AI assistants to explain a problem or suggest a firm before they call anyone. If your expertise isn't written down clearly on your site, it can't be cited.
Do we need a new website to start?
Not necessarily. Intake automation and AEO improvements often come first, and a redesign can follow when it is worth doing.
